What is crack software?
A “crack’ is when counterfeiters break your serial algorithm, and create “free” versions of your software. This is something that is rampant on the internet. You see it with any kind of software imaginable, from Microsoft, to Apple, to Adobe, and down the line.

We’ve known for some time there has been a lot of counterfeiting of IM Lock Software. Just do a google search of “IM Lock Cracks” and there are quite a bit of responses. There are a lot of “torrents” with cracked versions, generally from countries outside the USA.

We have seen how they’ve “cracked” IM Lock Software, heck somebody even made a YouTube Video about it here. It’s interesting to read the comments below (in Spanish). Basically saying “thank you” and “this is what I’ve been looking for”. On one hand, it’s awful that they are stealing software, and publicly acknowledging that they are stealing. Is that even smart? On the other hand, they really, really want them some IM Lock, and that makes us feel good. They are willing to go to the trouble of scouring the internet to get IM Lock, and then breaking the law, just so they can enjoy all of the benefits of Comvigo Software, there is some validation to what we are doing.

So, to protect our software, and to protect potential lawbreakers from themselves, on our future releases we are implementing measures that will prevent the types of cracks we’ve seen with IM Lock. The particular measure we are taking will be changed from time to time just to keep everybody honest, and to make it really much more difficult to crack in the future.
