I couldn’t help but notice he emphasized that IM Lock uses no proxies, which is indeed the case. While we consider this a strength in the product, we have not used it as a selling point to date. But, going forward, we are going to emphasize that IM Lock uses no proxies to block. Which makes IM Lock unique and alone among competing software.

What is a proxy? A proxy is what all other blocking and filtering software uses to block. They point your browsers and other internet communications at a server they own, and analyze all traffic going through that server. So they rely on all traffic going through a specific address, namely, their own address. So, in fact, all of your corporate and home traffic will be traveling through their proxy, to be used at their discretion.

What are some disadvantages of using a proxy?
1. Your data and sensitive information are handled by yet another third party
Carlos gave me some others that involve the effectiveness of blocking:

1) Proxy blocking can be circumvented by using another Browser, for example a portable browser, and resetting it’s proxy.
2) Proxy blocking can be bypassed by connecting a USB modem to connect to Internet.
3) Proxy blocking can by circumvented by sharing an Internet Connection with a Smartphone, i.e. a hotspot
4) Proxy block can be circumvented by using any hotspot
6) Connecting the PC to another network, for example a wifi network or a coffee shop, etc.
7) Using Administrator account

IM Lock, on the other hand, uses no proxies. None of the above will circumvent the blocking of IM Lock. This is a point that we
need to emphasize more. Thank you Carlos!
